God Calls Abraham Genesis 12:1-4 1Now the LORD had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father's house, unto a land that I will shew thee: 2And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing: 3And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed. 4So Abram departed, as the LORD had spoken unto him; and Lot went with him: and Abram was seventy and five years old when he departed out of Haran. (God calls Abraham to a blessing and to be a blessing to the whole world.)
In the Bible God is called the Forever Blessed One! And the Bible says in Psalms 37:22 “For such as be blessed of him shall inherit the earth; and they that be cursed of him shall be cut off.” So we can say that everyone that is saved is blessed and everyone that is blessed is saved. The Bible says that Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law that the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ (Galatians 3:14). Today, I want us to learn about the blessing of the Lord and what it looks like according to scripture.
God Blessed His people from the beginning Genesis 1:28 And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.
Define Bless (Verb) - 1. To set apart or consecrate to holy purposes; to make and pronounce holy. (The righteous are blessed. God sanctifies and blesses his people so He can use them (2 Timothy 2:21).
2. To make happy; to make successful; to prosper in temporal concerns; as, we are blessed with peace and plenty.
The wicked are cursed, the righteous are blessed Proverbs 3:33 The curse of the LORD is in the house of the wicked: but he blesseth the habitation of the just. (If you are unrighteous you are cursed. Sin brings the curse of the Law. Righteousness through Christ brings the blessing.)
Define Righteous - 1. Just; accordant to the divine law. Applied to persons, it denotes one who is holy in heart, and observant of the divine commands in practice; as a righteous man. Applied to things, it denotes consonant to the divine will or to justice; as a righteous act. It is used chiefly in theology, and applied to God, to his testimonies and to his saints.
The righteous in Scripture, denote the servants of God, the saints.
Christ redeemed us to give us the Blessing Galatians 3:10-14 10For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse: for it is written, Cursed is every one that continueth not in all things which are written in the book of the law to do them. 11But that no man is justified by the law in the sight of God, it is evident: for, The just shall live by faith. 12And the law is not of faith: but, The man that doeth them shall live in them. 13Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree: 14That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.
Describing the Blessed Life
What does a blessed life look like? Psalms 1:1-6 1Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. 2But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night. 3And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper. 4The ungodly are not so: but are like the chaff which the wind driveth away. 5Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous. 6For the LORD knoweth the way of the righteous: but the way of the ungodly shall perish.
Define Prosper - To favor; to render successful. ( What does it mean to prosper spiritually speaking? As long as you are in the will of God doing the will of God you are automatically successful. That is what success is. Being spiritually minded pleasing God in all things. You are eternally secure if you are abiding in Jesus and His words are abiding in you.)
Jesus teaches us who are blessed Beatitudes Matthew 5:1-12 1And seeing the multitudes, he went up into a mountain: and when he was set, his disciples came unto him: 2And he opened his mouth, and taught them, saying,
3Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. (Psalms 34:6 This poor man cried, and the LORD heard him, and saved him out of all his troubles.)
4Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted. ( Isaiah 61:2-3 To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all that mourn; 3 To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the Lord, that he might be glorified. Ecclesiastes 1:18 For in much wisdom is much grief: and he that increaseth knowledge increaseth sorrow.)
5Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth. ( Psalms 25:9-10 9The meek will he guide in judgment: and the meek will he teach his way. 10All the paths of the LORD are mercy and truth unto such as keep his covenant and his testimonies.)
6Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled. ( Psalms 34:10 The young lions do lack, and suffer hunger: but they that seek the LORD shall not want any good thing.)
7Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy. (Psalms 18:25 With the merciful thou wilt shew thyself merciful; with an upright man thou wilt shew thyself upright;)
8Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God. ( Psalms 24:3-4 3Who shall ascend into the hill of the LORD? or who shall stand in his holy place? 4He that hath clean hands, and a pure heart; who hath not lifted up his soul unto vanity, nor sworn deceitfully.)
9Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God. (James 3:18 And the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace of them that make peace.)
10Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness' sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. 11Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake. 12Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you.
The Blessed Take Care of the Poor
The Blessed take care of the Poor Luke 14:12-24 12Then said he also to him that bade him, When thou makest a dinner or a supper, call not thy friends, nor thy brethren, neither thy kinsmen, nor thy rich neighbours; lest they also bid thee again, and a recompence be made thee. 13But when thou makest a feast, call the poor, the maimed, the lame, the blind: 14And thou shalt be blessed; for they cannot recompense thee: for thou shalt be recompensed at the resurrection of the just. (This is the way of the Kingdom. Taking care of the weak and poor. Defending and protecting the weaker. Laying down your life for others. It’s opposite of the way of the world because nothing is carnally gained. It’s motive is simply love and care. It’s the church’s job.)
Taking care of the poor Proverbs 28:27 He that giveth unto the poor shall not lack: but he that hideth his eyes shall have many a curse.
The Lord rewards those who take care of the poor Proverbs 19:17 He that hath pity upon the poor lendeth unto the LORD; and that which he hath given will he pay him again. (Meet their needs and get them the gospel. You must get them the truth, otherwise consider it a failed mission.)
Those who consider the poor will be blessed Psalms 41:1-2 1{To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David.} Blessed is he that considereth the poor: the LORD will deliver him in time of trouble. 2The LORD will preserve him, and keep him alive; and he shall be blessed upon the earth: and thou wilt not deliver him unto the will of his enemies.
Verses about the Blessed

Revelation 22:14-15 Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city. 15For without are dogs, and sorcerers, and whoremongers, and murderers, and idolaters, and whosoever loveth and maketh a lie.
Proverbs 10:6-7 6Blessings are upon the head of the just: but violence covereth the mouth of the wicked. 7The memory of the just is blessed: but the name of the wicked shall rot. 8The wise in heart will receive commandments: but a prating fool shall fall. 9He that walketh uprightly walketh surely: but he that perverteth his ways shall be known. (Define Just - In an evangelical sense, righteous; religious; influenced by a regard to the laws of God; or living in exact conformity to the divine will. Proverbs 20:7 The just man walketh in his integrity: his children are blessed after him.)
Psalms 32:1-2 1 Blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered. 2Blessed is the man unto whom the LORD imputeth not iniquity, and in whose spirit there is no guile. (Define Guile - Craft; cunning; artifice; duplicity; deceit; usually in a bad sense.)

Psalms 94:12-15 12Blessed is the man whom thou chastenest, O LORD, and teachest him out of thy law; 13That thou mayest give him rest from the days of adversity, until the pit be digged for the wicked. 14For the LORD will not cast off his people, neither will he forsake his inheritance. 15But judgment shall return unto righteousness: and all the upright in heart shall follow it.
Psalms 119:1-4 1Blessed are the undefiled in the way, who walk in the law of the LORD. 2Blessed are they that keep his testimonies, and that seek him with the whole heart. 3They also do no iniquity: they walk in his ways. 4Thou hast commanded us to keep thy precepts diligently.
Isaiah 32:20 Blessed are ye that sow beside all waters, that send forth thither the feet of the ox and the ass. (Besides signifying 'wild', 'natural', 'uncivilized', 'non-monotheistic', the wild donkey is also a sign for 'nobleness' and 'royalness'. This appears in the different descriptions in 3 Kings of Solomon's anointment as king.)
Isaiah 56:1-2 1Thus saith the LORD, Keep ye judgment, and do justice: for my salvation is near to come, and my righteousness to be revealed. 2Blessed is the man that doeth this, and the son of man that layeth hold on it; that keepeth the sabbath from polluting it, and keepeth his hand from doing any evil.
Rest is given to the Blessed of the Lord Hebrews 4:9-11 9There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God. 10For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from his. 11Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief. ( Revelation 14:13 And I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me, Write, Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth: Yea, saith the Spirit, that they may rest from their labours; and their works do follow them.)
Closing Verse: Psalms 115:10-18 10O house of Aaron, trust in the LORD: he is their help and their shield. 11Ye that fear the LORD, trust in the LORD: he is their help and their shield. 12The LORD hath been mindful of us: he will bless us; he will bless the house of Israel; he will bless the house of Aaron. 13He will bless them that fear the LORD, both small and great. 14The LORD shall increase you more and more, you and your children. 15Ye are blessed of the LORD which made heaven and earth. 16The heaven, even the heavens, are the LORD'S: but the earth hath he given to the children of men. 17The dead praise not the LORD, neither any that go down into silence. 18But we will bless the LORD from this time forth and for evermore. Praise the LORD.
